Petfinder's 'I Am A Cat Parent' campaign -- What makes me a cat person

Petfinder emailed me to tell me about their new campaign that I am so excited to be taking a I Am A Cat Parent", which is, you guessed it - all about being cat moms and dads.
part in! Their new campaign is "

Their new campaign is "breaking down stereotypes about cats and the people who love them to help encourage more people to consider adopting a cat." They want to prove that everyone can love a cat.

Jackson Galaxy

They have some great articles, including one about Jackson Galaxy from Animal Planet's My Cat From Hell (which is coming back April 6, 2013 at 8pm EST). Jackson is a prr-oud cat dad, which is clearly seen in his show and how he interacts with his cats.

So maybe you're asking, what makes ME a cat person? I have to think about that. No wait, I don't. What isn't to love about cats? I love their little noses and whiskers. Their paw pads and soft ears; the way they look at you when they're hungry. The way they look at you when they know you're sad.

Let me tell you, that list could go on for miles. So this post will not be my only post about how I am a cat parent. There will be more in the future.

Let me know how you are a cat parent! And make sure you follow Petfinder on Facebook so you can keep updated on their latest campaign!

2 Year Blog Anniversary/Piper's Annual Check up

I absolutely cannot believe, that this past month of March was the second anniversary of my family bringing Sandpiper into our home!

For Last year's Blog Annivesary/Vet visit posts
One year Blog Anniversary
Piper's First Official Vet Visit last year

Piper, all shiny and new!
Piper has been such a crucial part of my life, I can't imagine life without her or any of my cats. Without Piper, I wouldn't have Sandpiper Cat Blog. I wouldn't have participated in BlogPaws, become a member of the Cat Writers' Association! And I certainly would not have been able to do so many giveaways, interviews and have the amount of followers that I do!

So Piper, I thank you for giving me a shot at blogging and expanding my writing horizons! I never imagined how our experience together would lead to such amazing friends and wonderful opportunities!

--March 29 was Piper's annual check up. See pictures below for how she checked out & why she has to go back in on April 10!

I'm not here, I'm not here.

A healthy 9.7 pounds

Why, what do you see up there Piper?

The doctor just walked in, RUN AWAY!

Let's see your pearly whites!

Poor Piper, her last molar on the bottom is diseased.

Did someone say rabies shot? I'm outta here.

They can't give me a shot if they can't find me, right??

So as you can see, Piper is very healthy! Except she does have a diseased molar that will have to be removed. So Piper will be getting her first dental in a few weeks. I can't believe it! My poor baby. In fact, we will be getting the same sort of dentistry - sedation! I will be going in sometime soon to a new sedation dentist because of my irrational dentist fears/anxiety.

At least cats don't know it's coming!

Happy Anniversary to Rachel and Piper!
